Dextrose is a simple sugar and is chemically identical to glucose.  It is a rapidly absorbed carbohydrate used as a sweetener in food, a source of quick energy for athletes to replenish glycogen stores after workouts, and in medicine to treat low blood sugar. Dextrose is produced from starch, commonly corn starch, through complete hydrolysis.

For us it ferments a lot cleaner and more efficiently than sucrose.
