Product Description

For a robust fermentation of sugars, you need a healthy yeast culture. For yeast to reproduce, it requires a good source of nitrogen.

The addition of Yeast Nutrient (Di-Ammonium phosphate) is recommended for use in any fermentation where there is a potential for a low Nitrogen content.

While usually not such a problem with beer, Nitrogen is typically found to be naturally lacking in most wine musts and any pure sugar-based washes.

Insufficient levels of nitrogen usually result in a sluggish fermentation and can also lead to the production of unwanted fusel oils,
which can be detected as off-flavors in a finished product.

Directions: Add Yeast Nutrient prior to fermentation by stirring directly into the fermentables until completely dissolved.
Dosage:

  • For heavier bodied wines and beers, add ½ teaspoon per 5 litres.
  • For lighter-bodied wines add 1 teaspoon per 5 litres.

Tip: Yeast Nutrient can always be added later to kick start a stuck fermentation as needed.

*** Warning: Total dosage should not exceed 1-1/2 teaspoon per 5 litres of fermentable ***
