Product Description

The Wetpak English Bitter is a beer in the style of a traditional English Standard/Ordinary Bitter. This beer is light, amber in colour and produces a well rounded hoppy aroma with a mild to strong hop bitterness.

Wetpak Kits are formulated as extract brewing kits. They require a little more effort but the end result is definitely worth it. To make a Wetpak beer you will require:

  • Access to a stove or hot plate (one of those little butane gas powered camp stoves will work well).
  • A pot or saucepan that is large enough to hold 6 litres of liquid.
  • A spoon for stirring.
  • A sieve, colandar lined with butter muslin or a coffee plunger.
  • 1 hour of your time to monitor your brew while it simmers on the stove.

The English Bitter kit comes with:

  • 3kg of malt extract with the bittering hops already added.
  • a foil bag containing finishing hops.
  • a bag of finishing grain.
  • Instructions (To view the detailed instructions that come with the kit, click "HERE".)
  • A sachet of  Fermentis' Safale S-04 yeast so brew this one between 12°C to 25°C (optimal range is 15°C to 20°C).

*** Note: Upon opening the can, you may see what looks like candied sugar or a green crust. Don't panic, it's just the fresh hops within the can that have come to the surface of the malt. They're supposed to be there! ***

  1. Just like my mother use to make

Posted by Steve on 8th Oct 2021

Traditional bitter just as I remember, putting alsiamas and beer conditioned brain cells aside.
I have brewed this product a number of times now. I have tried various other recipes, but I think I will settle with this winning formula.
    Well done Wetpak.

  2. Top marks. GREAT English bitter

Add about 15g of Saaz Czech hops and this beer really shows its stuff. I love this beer.
