Product Description

Sodium Metabisulphite (Food number E223) be used both as a sterilising agent as well as a food preservative.

When added to water, the resulting reaction will release Sodium Di-oxide (SO2) gas, a pungent, foul-smelling and toxic gas. It's the SO2 that acts as the sterilising agent in brewing and winemaking.

Directions:

To Sterilize, mix 2 teaspoons of Sodium Metabisulphite in 1 litre of water and douse all equipment with the solution. Drain and leave standing for 15 minutes.

*** Warning - Avoid inhaling the fumes. May cause allergic reactions in those who are sensitive to sulfites,
including respiratory reactions in asthmatics, anaphylaxis and other allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

*** First Aid - If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Take a glass of water. If powder enters eyes, flush with cool water for 15 min. If poisoning occurs, contact Poisons Information or a Doctor immediately. Avoid skin contact.
