"Lager for Life" Beerfest As some you know Country Brewer - Bathurst had a stand at a “beerfest” in Bathurst on Saturday 14th March. Here is a wrap up for you all. It was called the “Lager for Life” Beer Fest at a hotel here in Bathurst that had been all renovated over the past 12 months and they wanted to put on a” beerfest” to celebrate their opening. The owner approached me last November about having a stand to promote my homebrew. There were about 200 different beers there from places such as James Squire, Blue Tongue Brewery, Coopers Brewery, The Mudgee Brewery, Matilda Bay and heaps of distributers with beers from Belgium, England, Japan and a lot of boutique beers from around Australia. There were about 300 people that attended and they were asked to tick a box for their favourite beer on the day. A guy called Mike Goldman (from Big Brother fame) was the MC for the day and about 5.00pm they announced the winner of the best beer of the Beerfest. Now wait for it – I had taken a couple of beers from our Recipe Sheet and also a Wetpak American Pale Ale. The American Pale Ale won hands down on the day ... Out voted any other beer by far! I was put before the crowd to praise up the beer and even some of the other stall holders commented that it was a fantastic beer. It certainly boosted my ego for the day. So you “Country Brewers” out there we do have a fantastic beer that can hold it’s own against some of the great beers of the world. Fair enough it was only about 300 beer drinkers of all ages but I was sure proud of the beer. The Wetpak was made as per the instruction sheet and was 6 weeks old in the keg. Cheers
