Wal's 10th Birthday
The Country Brewer is now 10 years old !
The shop at Thornleigh was the first Country Brewer which we opened on a shoe string ... we scrounged used timber to make shelves ... we made our own signs ... we packed many of our own products and over the majority of the past 10 years I have run this store myself. I have made a lot of friends being behind the counter ... a large number of brewers that walk through the door I greet by name ... there have been many ups and downs, but it has proven to be the most enjoyable profession I have ever been in.
Unfortunately, the more we grow the more coordination is needed to keep all our store owners operating efficiently ... so it was a very sad moment when I decided I had to pass the Thornleigh reigns over to someone else.
As of mid November 2009, we have sold the Thornleigh store to one of our employees ... "Lindsay Swift".
Lindsay has not been with us all that long, but has proven to be a genius at assisting our brewers. Lindsay is a Victorian (we wont hold that against him) who lived down near Traralgon when the "Black Saturday Fires" raged through his property resulting in him losing everything. He and his wife Mandy packed up there 2 boys and moved to Western Sydney to make a new start putting all that behind them. Lindsay basically knocked on our door looking for work, and the rest is history.
We wish them all the success for the future.
Cheers
Shawn Miles
